Star Wars Bakers Bake Giant Stormtrooper Cake
Star Wars fans and cake makers, Husband and Wife team, the Oaklands, baked a full size stormtrooper cake for a Sci-Fi convention.
Taking two weeks and ten other people, the Rice Krispie and sponge cake was en devoured by hungry convention patrons.
Tiler Oakleaf, of Winthrop, near Boston, said 'It took two weeks to make the cake with the whole team involved, but we wanted to make sure that there were people to eat it in the end because we didn't want to waste food'.
Standing at almost 2m tall and weighing 136kg/300lbs, the bakers used 208 eggs, 64kgs of sugar and 25kgs of marshmallows before their masterpiece was finished.
They used an iron frame support and filled it with layers of sponge and Rice Krispies. They then covered it in icing and brought it to the Arisia Sci-Fi Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. It took more than 600 people to finish it off.
Tiler added 'An important thing for us was that the cake tasted just like any other we would make, so the ingredients, the frosting, the buttermilk were just the same standard as one of our wedding cakes.'
